Adam Bendetson Will Continue His Athletic and Academic Careers at the University of Maine Orono

One movie enthusiast was particularly moved by E.T: The Extra Terrestrial, as his original artwork for its poster recently sold at auction.

Adam Bendetson of Scarborough track and cross country fame is ready to continue both his academic and athletic careers at University of Maine Orono next fall, having signed his National Letter of Intent Thursday.

Early Life and Education

Scarborough track and cross country star Adam Bendetson will continue both his athletic and academic journey at the University of Maine Orono by signing his National Letter of Intent Thursday. As an accomplished senior who holds several school records for track and cross country running, Bendetson plans to double major in mathematics and computer science upon arriving next fall. “I can’t wait!” said Bendetson eagerly anticipating life at Orono.

Bendetson was joined on Thursday by other high school athletes signing National Letters of Intent including Jacob Adams from Fryeburg Academy, Billy Albertson from Skowhegan, Matt Charpentier of York, James Cognata of St Dominic Academy (Nolan Flewelling of Marshwood and Griffin Gammon of Old Town/Noble), Maddox Jordan of Noble (WGME’s Jason Smith reported), Kennebunk baseball star Quinn MacDonald will join Division II St Anselme’s College next year WGME’s Jason Smith reported). Professional Career

Bendetson is currently a senior at Scarborough High and boasts several school records in track and cross country. Next fall he plans to double major in math and computer science at University of Maine Orono.

York High shot putter Matt Charpentier and Scarborough distance runner Adam Bendetson have set their sights on breaking some very impressive state records this year, hoping to break records held for over four decades.

These goals have not tempered their desire to succeed; both are among the top-ranked track and field athletes in California, facing tough competition but taking pride in having worked hard to be where they are today and expanding on their successes with ever higher marks.

Achievement and Honors

Adam Bendetson of Scarborough will continue both his athletic and academic careers at University of Maine Orono next fall, according to an announcement Thursday by the school. Bendetson holds several school records in both sports, earning Class A status on both accounts, while majoring double in mathematics and computer science.

Matt Charpentier of York High School in New York hopes to break state records in both shot put and discus at this summer’s outdoor championships, joining Bendetson among a select few high school athletes with goals beyond academics this spring.

Kennebunk native Quinn MacDonald of Kennebunk is another Maine college athlete looking forward to competing at St. Anselm’s next fall – this Division II baseball player plans on attending St. Anselm’s School located in Manchester New Hampshire which competes in the Northeast 10 conference.

Personal Life

Scarborough High School star Ben Bendetson plans to double major in math and computer science and says he can’t wait for college life to start at University of Maine in Orono. Bendetson won numerous state championships in both track and cross country during his high school career; currently holding multiple school records in both sports.

Bendetson makes sure he takes time for both fun and family, such as spending time with his girlfriend and three siblings, spending his off-seasons golfing or playing basketball, attending concerts or movies, listening to music or watching his beloved Boston Celtics compete against rival teams. Despite all his achievements, he still finds time for relaxation and family life. He relishes spending quality time with them.
