Early Life and Education
Adam Prewitt was known as someone who lived life to its fullest. His passions included books and knowledge, the outdoors, adventure and UK’s ROTC program – as well as Pershing Rifles, an elite college ROTC organization which taught military drill and fostered leaders of character.
As a youngster in Grandview, Colorado he was fascinated by all things farming – especially tractors! In fact he became a third generation tractor puller himself.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Sara Burgin Prewitt and daughter Stella Rose; parents Virgil and Tina Prewitt Mueller of Fort Collins CO; siblings Corey and Matthew; aunts Brenda Buntin and JoAnn Knopp; grandparents Hansford & Helen Prewitt from Nicholasville KY and William M & Glenna Johnson from Zebulon KY as well as treasured cousins, friends, and his beloved dog “Moose”.
Adam Prewitt attended University of Kentucky after graduating Colorado Springs High School. Though nominated to West Point, he decided instead to attend UK instead and became involved with ROTC and Pershing Rifles before eventually graduating with a degree in political science. Adam loved nature and would frequently go hiking, kayaking, climbing or scuba diving adventures while also reading books and discovering new topics about life – and regularly participated in mission trips! His parents Virgil and Tina hailing both from Kentucky made for an ideal match up!
Tusculum also featured several basketball and baseball teams under his coaching guidance; his tenure spanned over 30 years as he served on tournament staffs for over 30 championship events for football, men’s basketball and softball tournaments.
Achievement and Honors
Adam Prewitt also dedicated much of his time and efforts to volunteering and giving back. He served as both student advisor and member of Ross Commons Resident Council at Raymore-Peculiar High School; additionally, he volunteered with both Brother-to-Brother organization and 51 Main.
He enjoyed reading and outdoor activities like skiing, cave diving, sky diving and hiking as well as participating in USO and ROTC activities – something his parents, Virgil and Tina Prewitt of Kentucky encouraged through USO activities.
Following Adam Prewitt’s passing, his family established the Adam Prewitt Outdoor Pursuits Trip Fund in his memory. This endowment benefits any member of UK’s Pershing Rifles who wishes to attend one of its annual excursions but cannot afford its costs.
Adam Prewitt passed away at 31 in 2020 at Grandview High School in Aurora Colorado and the University of Kentucky, having received an invitation to West Point but opting instead to pursue ROTC training and join Pershing Rifles instead.
His passion for life was evident through his devotion to nature, people, and giving back. He loved skiing, hiking, camping, sky diving, scuba diving and traveling; visiting all 50 states and 14 countries over his lifetime.
He is affiliated with Baptist Health Corbin. He typically accepts new patients, with a list of accepted insurance providers available on his Healthgrades profile.
He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge, reading and travel; having visited almost all 50 states and 14 countries. On each trip he would bring along several books which he devoured as quickly as he could read them.
Adam Prewitt chose University of Kentucky over West Point due to its ROTC program and Pershing Rifles; he had long been an admirer.
