Xenia Community School District has officially initiated plans to renovate Doug Adams Stadium, an increasingly high-traffic venue over time. According to officials, this renovation should cost no more than $3 Million.
As well as housing the high schools in Xenia, this stadium serves a range of sports activities; Friday Night Football games regularly draw between 2,500-3,000 spectators to watch on Friday Nights.
Early Life and Education
The stadium, home to many Xenia sports teams, will undergo a major renovation. The plan involves replacing current lighting towers with four energy-efficient LED towers and upgrading bleachers with press boxes and larger capacity seating areas. School board approved Monday and expects it to be finished by 2023; community support was unanimous for creating an alternative central community gathering space featuring green stormwater technology as part of a vision for replacing it with mixed uses including affordable housing – an estimated total project cost is no more than $3 Million.
Professional Career
Adam Stadium excelled as Michigan State’s left tackle, earning four letters and starting three years as a four-year letterman and three year starter. As a senior, he helped them achieve first place rushing offense in the Big Ten as he earned first team all-conference recognition. His best performance came against Penn State when he graded out at over 89% with six pancake blocks setting up 452 yards of total offense; for which he was honored with being included on the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List and received 180 tackles, nine interceptions and four fumble recoveries over 37 games (all starts).
Achievement and Honors
Student-athletes excel not only athletically, but academically as well. Ole Miss’ men’s tennis and women’s soccer teams each earned the Chancellor’s Cup for having achieved the highest grade point average among varsity sports.
Recently, three University of Iowa projects won 2014 American Council of Engineering Companies of Iowa (ACEC) Engineering Excellence Awards. These included replacing Kinnick Stadium score and video boards; installing new steam/condensate lines at Roy Carver Pavilion; and the Melrose Avenue Surface Parking project.
Blythe Scherrer serves as Information Architect of the Honors Program, overseeing its “data and web footprint”, serving students from across campus. Her duties also encompass creating and maintaining systems to support curriculum, policy development, and strategic planning activities of this academic program.
Personal Life
Adam loves football but also enjoys spending time with his family and attending games of his favorite teams to watch them compete.
He’s an ardent supporter of both the Boston Red Sox and Yankees baseball teams, showing his patriotic pride while watching each game.
Before becoming an NFL receiver, Adams was an all-conference performer for Fresno State Bulldogs, earning all-conference recognition while becoming their career reception leader and receiving yardage leader.
