On April 26th, our beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

This weekend’s carnival festivities in St Thomas were marred by a fatal shooting – the 15th this year on the island.

Professional Career

Alrick Thomas has amassed an extensive resume as an award-winning writer and director, particularly on television. He has worked on ABC’s Final Witness and ESPN’s short doc series Spike Lee’s Lil’ Joint for television projects including ABC. Furthermore, Alrick taught undergraduate classes on African American image in cinema at Rutgers University and Goddard College, in addition to addressing social, political, and economic issues through film medium.

The Virgin Islands Police Department is conducting an investigation into Alrick Thomas’ shooting death near Frederick Lutheran Church on Norre Gade on April 29. Dion Johnson, 21, has been charged with first-degree murder. Thomas, 54, was the father of four children. He is survived by his wife Crystal George-Thomas; brothers Troy Bryan, Andre Bryan and Michael Bryan as well as sisters Kareen Battiste-Duran Hope Griffin Shirley Sewer Etoile Moorehead as well as numerous nieces and nephews and nieces and nephews.
