Askari Adams kept his composure during Penn State’s draft workout with NFL representatives from Harrisburg. Adams knew his chance at playing on Sundays depended on how well he performed in the 40-yard dash test.

Adams made it look easy – one play away from fulfilling his lifelong goal.

Professional Career

Adams had always longed to become an NFL starting safety. Growing up watching these players as role models inspired him, so when representatives from 31 different teams converged upon him and some former Penn State Nittany Lions he kept calm until one San Diego Chargers scout came over and gave him what he was waiting for: an offer.

Personal Life

Askari Adams is a high school football coach in Napa, California. Previously serving as Interim Head Football Coach during the 2020/21 season and now as Defensive Coordinator. An avid sports fan himself, Askari supports Chicago Bears, New York Mets, and Los Angeles Lakers teams.

Adams excelled as both a special teams and defensive back for Penn State despite missing time due to an DUI citation, earning the respect of both coaches and teammates alike.

At a workout, a San Diego Chargers scout told Adams he was ready for NFL level competition – the words Askari Adams had been waiting his whole life to hear.
