Ben Wall – A Modern Day Legend

Throughout my years in Savannah, GA, I have come across a few celebrities and the one I most admire is Ben Wall. I’ve had the privilege of learning about his career, his family, and his relationship with his girlfriend Kenlea Wiechens.

Ben Wall’s family

Sadly, Ben Wall, 76, passed away in March of 2021. He was a loving father and devoted grandfather. He was also an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He was a graduate of Groves High School, University of Georgia, and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He was also a member of several professional organizations.

He was a member of the Rotary Club of Savannah and the Chatham Club. He also was a member of the Savannah Yacht Club. He owned Superior Sanitation Services. He also founded Atlantic Waste Services in Pooler.

He also served as a volunteer firefighter for many years. Ben had a love for hunting. He was also a member of the Savannah Sport Fishing Club. His father, Albert Martin Wall, and his mother, Essie Burke Wall, were also avid hunters. Ben attended Pooler Elementary School and Groves High School. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1968.

In addition to his family, Ben Wall is survived by his nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind many friends. He is remembered in a guestbook. He is also buried at Hephzibah Baptist Church.

Ben “Burke” Wall was born September 9, 1944, in the old Telfair Hospital. Ben had an aunt who was a nurse. Ben was a graduate of Groves High School and attended Brewton-Parker College. He was also a member of the University of Georgia’s athletic program.

Ben Wall’s career

Despite the fact that his career in Savannah Ga is long behind him, Ben Wall is considered by many to be a modern day legend. Ben’s contributions to the Bulldogs were numerous. He was a standout in varsity basketball and earned a number of accolades throughout his career. He earned all-region honors in his senior year, en route to earning all-state honors as well. He also led his team to an undefeated run through the Region 1-AAA tournament. He was named the Savannah Morning News’ Boys Basketball Player of the Year in 2006.

Ben “Burke” Wall was born on September 9, 1944, in the old Telfair Hospital. He graduated from Groves High School and attended Brewton-Parker College. He died on March 1, 2021, at the age of 76. He was a self-proclaimed Georgia Bulldog fan. In his senior year, he averaged more than 16 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He was also a member of the Savannah Yacht Club and the Rotary Club of Savannah. He also owned Superior Sanitary Services.

In addition to his contributions on the court, Ben “Burke” Wall was a devoted father, uncle and grandfather. He was a lifelong student and a staunch fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. Ben is survived by his wife, two daughters and a slew of grandchildren.
