Commissioner Daniela Jean – A Champion for Her Community
Commissioner Daniela Jean has dedicated herself to keeping her community safe, prosperous, and peaceful. Born and raised in North Miami Beach (NMB), she graduated from Fulford Elementary, JFK Middle School, North Miami Beach Senior High School before earning both a Bachelor’s in Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Biology at Barry University as well as a Master’s in Mass Communications from Florida International University.
Early Life and Education
Commissioner Daniela Jean is an advocate for her community, having led numerous mentoring and service projects such as Hands at Work for Christ and JAVA Cafe. Additionally, she serves as president and CEO of Arts at Work Inc, which seeks to foster literary, visual and performing arts for youth within its reach as well as promote arts appreciation in general.
She has worked with both young and established composers such as William Bolcom, Lucas Foss, Kaija Saariaho, Libby Laresen, Chen Yi, and Bright Sheng; recording for Capstone Records label and performing internationally.
An North Miami Beach native, she attended Fulford Elementary, JFK Middle and North Miami Beach Senior High Schools before receiving an associate degree at Miami-Dade College and later going on to obtain a bachelor’s in diagnostic medical sonography/biology at Barry University.
Commissioner Daniela Jean has always upheld one mantra in her service to her community – keeping it safe, prosperous, and peaceful. With this in mind, she has implemented various programs targeted towards small business owners within her city while acting as an integral member of its communities.
She has an intense passion for helping others to achieve success, which can be seen through her work as a social strategist, mentor, speaker and author. Commissioner Daniela Jean was recently appointed to The National League of Cities as Florida Regional Director for the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO). Additionally, she serves as President and CEO of Arts at Work Inc. – a non-profit that promotes literary, visual and performing arts for youth – serving on its Board.
