Daniel’s Place – A Respite Care Facility For Families With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

Cheryl Working of North Manchester is on a mission to assist families caring for loved ones with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To fulfill her goal, she established Daniel’s Place – a respite care facility named after her son Daniel – providing short-term temporary assistance while offering caregivers, typically family members, a break.

Early Life and Education

Daniel’s Place is a North Manchester nonprofit established to assist families caring for members with disabilities. Officially opened last month, its doors officially opened their doors in North Manchester.

Cheryl Working founded Daniel’s Place as a respite care service to provide respite care for those in need. Daniel was named after Cheryl’s own experience as a caregiver.

Daniels was born into a political-active family in Milliken and attended Wilson Collegiate Institute before beginning to write for and eventually purchase the Wilson Advance two years later. Daniels later joined the Watauga Club, advocating popular education, federal aid to industry, free coinage of silver and graduated income taxes among others.

Achievement and Honors

The Daniels Prize honors transformative educators and civic leaders who embody the Daniels mindset of leadership that advances the arc of progress. A jury composed of prominent Indiana citizens – such as former Chief Justice Randall Shepard; U.S. Representative Lee Hamilton; former Indiana Governor Joe Kernan and civic leader Pat Miller – is responsible for awarding these prestigious prizes annually.

She enjoys competing in hackathons – 24-hour competitions where teams of four create new technology in 24 hours – and has twice won WSU’s Hardware Hackathon. In addition, she excels at receiving, preparing and managing admission applications as well as working closely with faculty to ensure equitable consideration of candidates for admissions consideration.

At Daniels Faculty, newcomers are automatically considered for many course awards when admitted into our programs. For awards requiring applications, instructions will be communicated throughout their academic year.

Personal Life

A lovely home featuring comfortable beds and an inviting backyard. Perfect for families!

I have had two incredible stays here and both times it was incredible! The staff are beyond friendly and helpful; the property itself is kept very well. I will most definitely return!

Amazing service and food. Even though it was 90 degrees outside on the patio, our wine was kept at exactly the perfect temperature!
