Dave Crump has been in the motion picture industry for over 35 years. Currently, he serves as President of Creative Technology (CT), an NEP Live Events company serving Europe and the Middle East.

He is also the co-founder of Project 2043, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating lasting community transformation through inter-generational connections.

Early Life and Education

Dave Crump hails from a religious and supportive two-parent household where he learned how to play music on an electronic keyboard, drum machine and Casio keyboard sampler for only $10.

Crump was a dedicated family man, always making time for those he cared about. He was involved with Professional Towers of Ohio, Vestibule Club and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica.

He was an honorary member of the American Legion and loved camping, golfing, skiing and fishing with friends. Additionally, he enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and pinochle. An endearment to all who knew him, Dolly will miss him dearly along with their three children Tom (Lisa Pomaro) Crump of Boardman; Frank (Sandra) Crump of Las Vegas; Davine Sickle of New Waterford along with their five grandchildren; they will all miss Uncle Tommy dearly.

Dave Crump has had a storied professional career as an attorney, businessman and entrepreneur. He currently teaches at the University of Houston Law Center on various topics from civil litigation to evidence.

Additionally, he wrote Fred Karno: The Legend Behind the Laughter – an ambitious book that took 10 years to research and write. In 2012, Crump became a national television news icon when he represented Trayvon Martin’s family against a white neighborhood watch volunteer who shot the 17-year-old unarmed black boy to death in Florida. Additionally, his representation of Michael Brown – another unarmed black teenager killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014 – further galvanized the Black Lives Matter movement.

He is a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and has been named among TIME100’s Most Influential People for 2021 and Ebony Magazine’s Power 100 Most Influential African Americans. Additionally, he holds a professorial position at the University of Houston Law Center and is an author.

Personal Life

Dave Crump, despite the successful career he has achieved as an attorney, remains humble. When he was still in high school, his white classmate whose father owned a nursing home, funeral parlor and pharmacies offered him free lunch one day at lunch time as an incentive.

He says he chose law school because it would give him the chance to help those who were marginalized and disenfranchised. “I wanted to be a lawyer who could give people more opportunities at realizing the American dream,” he states.

Today, Crump has earned a reputation for being a formidable opponent to racist politicians and police officers. He recently wrote fiery op-eds for HuffPost and other media outlets condemning President Donald Trump’s racism, xenophobia, and white supremacy.

Dave Crump, better known by his stage name David Banner, is an American actor and rapper with a net worth of $12 million. He was born Lavell William Crump on April 11, 1974 in Jackson, Mississippi and currently resides there.
