Net Worth
Net worth is the total value of all one’s assets minus their liabilities. This number is used by banks, mortgage companies and insurance providers to assess how much you’re worth.
Assets refer to cash, bank account balances, investments and anything else that can be sold for money today. Liabilities refer to all debt owed others such as credit card debt or mortgage payments.
Calculating your net worth requires reconciling bank accounts and loans. Additionally, you need to assess the value of any remaining assets such as real estate or stocks.
