Social Worker – Ebony Lucas
Lucas, as a Social Worker, strongly advocates for person-focused services for all. She strives to help individuals realize their full potential by helping them meet goals that they have set themselves.
She would like to create an aldermanic office that is responsive and collaborative with residents, using software to track resident issues, regular town hall meetings, and open office hours.
Early Life and Education
Early on, Lucas immersed herself in popular art. She devoured magazine covers and comic books featuring imagery that transported her into fantasy worlds; particularly her favorites were adventure novels illustrated by N.C. Wyeth.
After graduating Tuskegee, Lucas joined the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC). World War II was in full swing at this point and WAAC was an entirely voluntary program; Lucas was part of its inaugural candidate training class; although she faced segregated barracks, clubs, and personal services she did well at her academy training center.
She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and actively involved with South Side Community Investors Association as well as serving on the board of directors of Neighborhood Building Owners Association and Doctors Without Borders; an international humanitarian medical NGO known for working in war zones or countries suffering from epidemic diseases.
Ebony Lucas has over 15 years of experience providing person-centered services to diverse hard to reach populations. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s of Social Work degrees from Wayne State University.
She is an active community organizer who has led efforts to support distressed homeowners. Additionally, she hosts community and teen events within the 4th Ward.
Lucas is deeply concerned about Chicago’s violent crime problem and strives to assist children and teenagers, which she believes will benefit the city as a whole. Furthermore, she wishes to create more job opportunities for youth. Additionally, she enjoys music and loves playing her grand auditorium guitar made with cedar top, macassar ebony back/sides and figured koa binding/back strap – the latter two materials being her prize possessions!
Achievement and Honors
Jacqueline Howard, senior director of corporate citizenship for Ally Financial has known Lucas for 16 years and describes her as being “fearless, relentless, and crazy smart”. Jacqueline loves how Lucas sets goals that push her beyond her comfort zone and sets challenges for them both to meet together.
Lucas, running against incumbent Sophia King for Chicago’s 4th Ward alderman seat, attended a public forum hosted by Kenwood-Oakland/Bronzeville Community Relations Committee to address issues facing their ward.
Lucas plays a Gibson ES-335 Signature Guitar featuring an Adirondack Spruce top, East Indian Rosewood back and sides, holly binding, abalone purfling and Macassar Ebony rosette. Equipped with Expression System electronics. Lucas graduated from University of Michigan.
Ebony Lucas has an undying passion for helping society’s most marginalized members, such as volunteering in Africa and serving at domestic violence programs. A Michigan native herself, Ebony enjoys traveling and reading.
Lucas is seeking to unseat incumbent Sophia King as the 4th Ward alderman and has raised the most funds of all seven candidates running in this contest. As alderman, Lucas hopes to broaden city ordinances that help unhoused residents in Chicago.
Lucas established educational programs during her time in the Air Force. Later she moved to Washington D.C. and held various posts related to research and education; becoming an advocate for black youths’ higher education while remaining involved with her community.
Lucas Black has built his fortune through acting. As one of the premier American actors, his memorable onscreen performances have gained him immense acclaim and brought him much wealth and fame.
Outside film and television, he has also found success on social media. He hosts a popular family YouTube channel where he documents their daily life together as husband and wife; children; relatives etc.
It has accumulated over 170,000 subscribers and become popular with young viewers. Olivia, Jayden, and Lucas belong to this couple who reside in an extravagant American house without disclosing its valuation; estimates indicate they may make close to $1 Million annually.
