Funny Sandals

Invented by a Frenchman during the post-World War II leather shortage, jelly sandals are a fun take on a classic shoe. The original design of this type of sandal was made of PVC plastic, but over time was updated with brightly-coloured translucent soft plastic, thus the name. Jelly sandals come in many styles today. Another type of funny sandal is the soft foam sandal, which was first invented in 1973. Made of closed-cell soft foam with surgical tubing straps, soft foam sandals are mainly sold along the Texas Gulf Coast.
