George Cheng served as a career diplomat for the Republic of China. He was married to Dorothy, an artist who had started her artistic journey while living at a military base in Taiwan.

George and Dorothy enjoyed a happy marriage, being blessed with two sons. George and Dorothy wanted their children to receive an education that would enable them in their later lives.

George has extensive experience as a pulmonologist, treating patients with various lung and pleural diseases such as malignant and benign lung cancers, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma and COPD. Additionally he performs minimally invasive procedures. George holds board certification in both pulmonary and critical care medicine as well as interventional pulmonology.

Achievements and Honors

He is an interventional pulmonologist with expertise in minimally invasive techniques for airway problems such as lung cancer, sarcoidosis, asthma, COPD and pleural disease. Furthermore, he serves as Medical Director for Interventional Pulmonology & Bronchoscopy Services at UMD.

He has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, such as being named Maryland Section Chemist of the Year by the American Chemical Society in 2022.

George was also the winner of a national science and humanities project competition known as Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. This is an excellent program for students to join, showcasing their individual research interests. His project was very personal, which made traveling to Charlotte much easier – all expenses paid!

George has lived in New York City for two decades and been a real estate investor for over 10 years. He believes that education is the foundation of any long-term business relationship and strives to treat each client like an individual, going above and beyond to ensure their needs are met.

George has long been involved in various community initiatives. He is particularly passionate about promoting science and technology education among high schools, as well as supporting the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.
