Early Life and Education
Early childhood is an important period in a child’s brain development. During this period, they develop social skills, self-worth and their perception of the world, as well as cognitive capabilities.
Children’s experiences, environments and opportunities during this time shape how they learn, behave and even their health for life. That is why UNESCO has committed to guaranteeing that all girls and boys, especially those from poor backgrounds, have access to quality early childhood care and education by 2030.
Unfortunately, more than 175 million children – almost half of all pre-primary age children worldwide – do not attend this vital educational opportunity. This is primarily due to a lack of quality early childhood programs and inadequately trained educators.
Professional Career

He served as governor of Oklahoma for two terms and earned national acclaim for his compassionate and professional response to the 1995 bombing of Murrah federal building. His policies and recommendations regarding education reform to the Legislature resulted in increased funding for common, vocational-tech and higher education facilities throughout Oklahoma.
