George Naperville – A Beloved Leader

George Napierville was a beloved leader, known for his passion and devotion to this City. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, yet his legacy lives on through the many wonderful people he touched throughout his life.

He was the kind of man who knew everyone’s name and never missed an opportunity to stop and chat with people, no matter how busy he was. Each individual was seen as equally valuable in his eyes, a beloved member of his Naperville family.

Early Life and Education

George was born in Chicago and raised in Western Springs. Upon graduating high school he attended LaGrange high school before continuing on to Wabash college at Crawfordsville, Indiana. Following this he served in the Army as a Captain.

He married Lorena Kalmbach and together they raised three sons: Larry, Douglas and William. A devout Christian man, he instilled strong faith in his children that would last throughout their lives.

They reside on Radcliff Road and have joined the Congregational church, actively participating in all meetings and school projects. Furthermore, they take pleasure in farming on their 2 1/2 acres.

Professional Career

George is an experienced and professional real estate agent with a drive to assist his clients reach their property objectives. He has become a go-to resource for many business-minded, family-oriented move up buyers and sellers throughout North Plainfield, Naperville and the surrounding Chicagoland markets.

He continues his father Charles Vincent George’s architectural legacy through the Charles Vincent George Architects (CVG) firm, whose residential projects are renowned for their creative transitional interpretations of traditional architecture. Their designs have been featured in various publications such as Architectural Digest, Interiors, LUXE Magazine and Chicago Magazine.

Achievements and Honors

Naperville, Illinois, located 28 miles west of Chicago, is renowned for its vibrant downtown and numerous awards it has earned over the years. Its business district is considered one of the best in America and its public library system has earned seven top honors from the American Libraries Association.

Though the city’s growth has been rapid, it still retains a small-town charm. Its residents cherish its historic core and it’s an inviting place to stroll through.

The town of Naper can be traced back to 1831 when Great Lakes steamship captain Joseph Naper founded what would later become known as Naper’s Settlement. There, he and his brother John established a sawmill, trading post, and grocery store that remain today in downtown.

Personal Life

George enjoyed a long and fruitful career in the healthcare industry. As director and administrator for several senior housing communities, his technical proficiency combined with an innate sense of community helped him achieve great success.

He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He was renowned for his infectious smile and kind heart.

In 1995, he entered the Naperville mayor’s race without any prior political experience and won easily over two other candidates – Jack Tennison and Doug Krause. He is best remembered for his “Officer Friendly” approach to dealing with police complaints. Additionally, he was a certified fund-raising executive and author of ‘Fearless Fundraising for Nonprofit Boards.’ Sadly, many will miss him greatly, especially his family members.

Net Worth

George Naperville II was a well-known businessman in Naperville and his brick and tile works contributed to the city’s development. He also held high respect as a Mason and partner at Producer’s Bank, among other ventures.

He was also a generous philanthropist, contributing to local charities. Additionally, he served on the village board of trustees from 1857-1858.

In today’s dollars, Cyrus McCormick was worth more than 20 times what he made during the 19th century. He owned banks, oil wells, and a significant portion of Florida.
