George Snowden, born July 4th in 1904 and passing away in 1982, co-created the popular dance form known as ‘The Lindy Hop’ with his partner Mattie Purnell.

Early Life and Education

Snowden attended public elementary and middle schools in the suburbs south of Baltimore before enrolling at his local community college to take classes for credit from 1999-2001, followed by another stint from 2003-2005.

Snowden achieved international renown as a sculptor and earned numerous accolades. Additionally, his works were displayed at numerous international exhibitions.

He was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to an older sister named Jessica and a father named Lon.

His parents divorced when he was a young boy, so he moved in with a roommate and later his mother in Ellicott City, Md., a small town west of Baltimore.

In 2006, he accepted a job with the CIA as an IT professional. He spent some time at their headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

He then moved to Hong Kong and began collecting information on the NSA’s secret surveillance programs. In 2013, he leaked these secrets to the media through Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras, journalists who published the details.
