Greer’s trial counsel did not call Marcus Taplin as a witness to refute Jason Hickerson’s testimony that Taplin was present during the shooting incident and in a grey vehicle following him that day.
Early Life and Education
Professor Joan Greer specializes in art history, design and visual culture with an emphasis on merging artistic and religious discourses. Additionally, her expertise lies within late 19th and early 20th century European visual and material culture.
Her research interests focus on the constructions of genius and artistic identity, representations of Jesus, mythologizing Vincent Van Gogh, as well as the history of art and design periodicals. She currently lives with her husband in Greensboro, North Carolina where she teaches classical liberal arts at a private school and serves on choir and youth ministry at Whitnel First Baptist Church where the family attends regularly. When not teaching classical liberal arts she enjoys eating ice cream and baseball – an activity shared with homeschooling her four children!
Greer Oliver is an executive with over 16 years of experience working in real estate. She has advised on industrial sales transactions totaling more than 63 million square feet and nearly $6 billion, representing investors, occupiers and developers from across Phoenix metropolitan area.
As well as his CFL experience, he also played in the NFL with Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers. In 1983 he set a Canadian Football League (CFL) record by catching 113 passes for 2,003 yards and eight touchdowns to become the first player ever to earn both Super Bowl and Grey Cup rings in one season.
He was an integral member of the Rangers team that won consecutive World Series championships from 2010 and 2011. He led all AL relief appearances and posted a 2.48 ERA with three holds during those seasons.
Achievement and Honors
Oliver left an indelible mark wherever he went, always willing to lend a helping hand or assist a stranger who was struggling. Additionally, he took his job at the law firm very seriously and invested both his time and energy towards its success.
As part of his annual firm BBQs and Christmas gifts for his colleagues, he recently enjoyed playing keyboard with Bakersfield Charter again. Rejecting convention and loving tradition alike, every year at his holiday party he always managed to come up with something unexpected for guests!
Greer City Council members Kimberly Bookert and Wryley Bettis completed advanced training at the Municipal Elected Officials Institute this week, joining Mayor Danner and Councilmember Judy Albert as graduates of this program.
Greer Oliver was born in Taylors, South Carolina. She joined the Hal Roach Bathing Beauties as part of their performance team Laurel and Hardy comedy shorts featuring provocative bathing costumes; later she appeared as Oliver Hardy’s girlfriend in Men O’ War from 1929.
Greer also appealed her conviction on RICO charges. According to Greer, trial counsel was ineffective for failing to call Marcus Taplin as a witness who could disprove Jason Hickerson’s testimony that PDF members chased after he left the grey vehicle.
Greer was found guilty on one count of engaging in racketeering activity within an enterprise.
Greer has yet to disclose his net worth publicly; however, he likely earns a sizable salary as an anchor at WMC News Channel.
He is also a musician, playing guitar and writing music for himself and others. He was awarded four music scholarships to college; performing in marching, concert and jazz bands at Bethune-Cookman University.
He is a family man, father to J.J. and McKenzie. Growing up during a time of segregation and racism in Memphis didn’t halt his pursuit of his dreams – as a child he would make fake news using an 8 mm Bell and Howell wind-up camera and make short films using Adobe After Effects! Since 2000 he has worked at Western Medical Care Center (WMC).
