This novel takes us back into an imagined world filled with paparazzi and idol worship to explore themes of power and celebrity in Angel City. Jackson Godspeed (known by most simply as Jacks) is perhaps the best-known angel.
Maddy Montgomery doesn’t care much for celebrities or fame. Instead, she works at her uncle’s restaurant as an employee and remains fiercely independent.
Early Life and Education
After graduating from Edinboro, Speer worked for several news organizations including NPR. Beginning as a business correspondent and later transitioning into national news anchor status – reporting, writing, editing and producing live hourly updates that air during NPR programming – Speer became part of an illustrious news career that included radio talk show appearances such as Late Edition with Paul Simon.
He is an accomplished author, having written two books about his time spent among the Nazis: Inside the Third Reich and The Spandau Diaries based on his diary entries that have become invaluable historical documents.
He volunteers his time by working two or three class periods a morning in learning support math classrooms at Carlisle High School. Afternoons are then free for family time or running errands; additionally he has assisted at several community events.

Jack Speers is a professional hockey player with the Tucson Roadrunners of the Arizona Hockey League, where he has registered 72-80-151 and 262 penalty minutes across 171 career AHL games. Additionally, Jack hosts his weekly sports and music radio show on 1490 WBCB.
Speer has extensive expertise in strength and conditioning. He has provided services to numerous high school and collegiate teams and was instrumental in redesigning Tulane University’s Slatten Family Football Strength Center.

In 2022, he received the IPR Jack Felton Golden Ruler Award in recognition of his lifetime efforts in furthering research and measurement practices within public relations. Furthermore, he serves as an invaluable mentor for other professionals.

Jack Speers is an ardent fan of Philadelphia sports. An Eagles, Flyers and Phillies enthusiast himself, Jack also enjoys listening to great music and spending time with friends. Working as both remote engineer for WBCB as well as production/imaging for the station.
Speer was previously employed as a reporter with National Public Radio’s Business Desk and traveled across the country reporting a range of stories, from exclusive interviews with CEO’s to covering last door-to-door Fuller Brush salesmen’s work days; he was part of the team that covered Jonestown massacre as well.
John Bristol Speer (known as Jack Spiers) was one of the pioneers of fandom and an early significant fanhistorian. His book Up to Now: A History of Science Fiction Fandom created a system for numbering fandoms; additionally he served as fan GoH at Noreascon 4.
