Celebrating John Lennon’s Birthday

The singer/songwriter/poet John Lennon turns 81 years old on October 9th. He was a founding member of the Beatles, whose songs changed music forever.

To celebrate his birthday, we have a look at some of the key events in his life. This includes his early days, his relationship with Paul McCartney and his career as a musician.

Early Life and Education

John Lennon grew up in Pinner, Middlesex, England. He was the son of Stanley Dwight and Sheila Eileen Dwight and attended schools such as Pinner Wood Junior School, Reddiford School and Pinner County Grammar School. He also attended the University of Manchester. As a teenager, he chose music as his profession and has since been recognized as one of the most successful musicians in history. He has released a plethora of albums and has been featured in many TV shows.
