Early Life and Education

John Luth was born and raised in Rhode Island to devout parents. As a cradle Catholic, he eventually pursued a career as a teacher; however, soon realized this wasn’t his true calling.

At 25, he accepted his call to become a missionary priest and served in Australia. Having fallen in love with the country and its people, he went on to found several Lutheran churches throughout Kaiser-Wilhelmsland.

His dedication to education can be seen in his numerous scholarly works, such as the Long-Range Program of Christian Education in the Lutheran Church in America (LCA). Additionally, he served on the boards of directors for both the LCA Parish Education Curriculum and Lutheran World Federation Commission on Education; additionally, he served on the National Council of Churches’ board as chairman.

He assisted Monarch Airlines with restructuring in preparation for its sale to a private investment group and helped facilitate their purchase of thirty Boeing 737 MAX 8 narrowbody aircraft worth around $3bn. Additionally, he has advised on several other turnarounds and is an acknowledged expert on operational efficiency strategies for airline groups.

In 1995 he founded Seabury Group LLC – a global advisory and investment company that helps keep airlines flying high and profitable.
