Who is John Rizzi?

Early Life and Education

John Rizzi was born in Endwell, New York and quickly discovered his passion for drumming. By age nine, he had begun writing and recording albums.

He is the founding member and leader of Wire Choir, an ensemble that specializes in the improvisational solos of legendary jazz guitarist Charlie Christian. This ensemble has achieved legendary status for its high musical standards and is widely considered to be the benchmark for guitar ensemble literature.

In his 28 years as an NFL coach, he has guided special teams players to six Pro Bowls and six NFL All-Rookie teams. Furthermore, each of his 10 seasons as coordinator he has had a unit ranked within the top half of NFL writer Rick Gosselin’s annual special teams rankings.

He is currently the special assistant to the general manager in scouting for the Washington Nationals, marking his 53rd year in this industry.
