King Of The Hill Pins
King of the Hill Pins
The King of the Hill is a television program which aired for thirteen seasons on the Fox network. The show is loosely based on the fictitious town of Arlen, Texas, and centers on the Hill family, consisting of Hank Hill (the de facto leader), his son Bobby, and his daughter Ladybird. Throughout the series, Hank works as an assistant manager at Strickland Propane, and tries to keep up with the times and a slew of shady characters who want to take over the business.
There are many ways to celebrate the show, and it’s long been considered an entertainment mainstay. In addition to the original series, the series spawned a series of cable reruns that have aired on Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, and FXX, in addition to several television networks worldwide. And for fans, there’s the King of the Hill pins. While they’re only available in select markets, they’re a great way to get in on the nostalgia quotient. Alternatively, you could always try your hand at designing your own. But if you don’t have the time or inclination, a quick online search will yield dozens of sites selling a variety of products.
On the flipside, it’s a good idea to have a look at the show’s production archival materials, which are housed at Wittliff Collections, a nonprofit museum and archive based at Texas State University in San Marcos. It’s also worth a visit to the aforementioned Wikipedia page for a more in depth overview of the show. During its heyday, the show was the king of the animated programming block, and had the distinction of being the first to be produced by Judge. With Judge teamed up with Michael Rotenberg and Greg Daniels, the program was a ratings hit and a big win for the studio. Currently, there is no sign of a King of the Hill revival in the near future.
However, there’s a definite void in the space occupied by the King of the Hill. For those of us who still watch the show, or are fans of the show’s spin-offs, it’s a shame that the King of the Hill will be losing its place on our screens. Hopefully, the next generation of fans will continue to enjoy the wacky and entertaining show for years to come.
