The Recruit’s Laura Dern and Noah Centineo

Netflix has released new images from their upcoming spy thriller The Recruit. Starring Noah Centineo as Owen Hendricks, an ambitious young CIA lawyer whose first week on the job becomes an upheaval when one of his former agency assets threatens to expose their organization, we see Owen Hendricks undergo an unexpected journey that changes his perspective entirely.

Laura Noah performs as a percussionist with the Mobile Symphony, Pensacola Symphony and Gulf Coast Symphony orchestras as well as teaching applied percussion and marching band methods at University of West Florida and McGill-Toolen Catholic High School.

Early Life and Education

Noah graduated from Evergreen State College with both a bachelor of science in ecology and master of forest ecology and conservation degrees. As part of his work as an Evergreen State College field biologist – surveying northern spotted owls, marbled murrelets, banding Hawaiian songbirds among other species – Noah works to ensure new species receive protections under the Endangered Species Act as well as protecting threatened wildlife with strong laws against threats to its survival.

Noah was born in Cypress, Texas and has two siblings named Preston and Addie. She attended Cy-Fair High School where she earned Summa Cum Laude honors as well as first team All District, All State, and All American accolades. As a freshman at UNA she appeared in 30 games (starting 14) over 2017-18 season earning three-time ASUN Conference Newcomer of Week awards while averaging 9.1 points per game.

Professional Career

Laura (she/her) provides support for the donor relations team at the Center, such as research and communicating with Leadership Circle members. As a Tucson native, Laura worked nine years for Democratic politics before coming to work at the Center. This experience includes field work across Arizona as well as fundraising activities at state level.

Noah (he/him) leads the Center’s efforts to protect new species under the Endangered Species Act and ensure we have an effective law. Prior to leading these efforts at the Center, he worked as a wildlife biologist specializing in northern spotted owls and marbled murrelets as well as banding Hawaiian songbirds.

Achievement and Honors

An award is presented annually to senior female student-athletes who, through participation in multiple sports and strong support for UChicago women’s athletic program, have upheld the legacy of its namesake award.

Netflix recently unveiled The Recruit, featuring To All the Boys I’ve Loved actor Noah Centineo as a CIA lawyer in an upcoming series entitled TUDUM, where he plays an upstart lawyer who becomes embroiled in international power politics. In The Recruit, Centineo plays a newcomer who finds herself drawn into international affairs as she takes part in international power politics.

At the University of Mobile, University of West Florida and Pensacola State College she teaches applied percussion and marching band methods. With her husband Sean she works with McGill-Toolen Catholic High School’s percussion program where she coaches both the ensemble and Prep Band percussion sections. Additionally she is an endorser for Innovative Percussion products and Pearl/Adams Regional Education Artist.

Personal Life

Laura Dern is one of the most versatile actresses of her generation. From her Lynchian beginnings in Blue Velvet to dodging an angry T-Rex in Jurassic Park and then to delivering a feminist monologue in Big Little Lies, Laura Dern is one of its stars – making an impressionary character come to life and becoming one in every sense of the word.

She works both as a freelance musician and educator, teaching percussion at the University of West Florida since 2004 where she directs both UWF Percussion Ensemble and Argo Athletic Band as well as teaching applied percussion methods and applied timpani. Additionally, she serves as principal timpanist with Mobile Symphony, Pensacola Symphony and Gulf Coast Symphony as well as being invited to attend Aspen Music Festival and School for further studies in applied percussion techniques.

Dern is currently in a relationship with Greta Gerwig, director of Greenberg and Marriage Story. Together they have made films that portray women’s issues sympathetically – most recently Little Women.
