Lisa Benjamin

Lisa Benjamin is an Associate Professor at Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon. Her research encompasses corporate, energy, environmental law and climate risk analysis with particular attention paid to climate justice issues. Her publications include her PhD dissertation examining carbon major companies as well as articles and books covering international climate change law and energy resources law.

Early Life and Education

Lisa Benjamin grew up in Baton Rouge as the youngest daughter of Elvis Presley and his wife Priscilla Presley. At an early age she began writing songs, prompting encouragement from both of her parents.

She earned both her B.A. from Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio, and an LL.B from University of McGill in Montreal before going on to obtain a Master of Education in Reading and Language Development from Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Today, she serves as an associate professor at Lewis & Clark Law School where she specializes in international climate change law and environmental justice. Additionally, she holds positions such as Killam Postdoctoral Fellow at Schulich School of Law Dalhousie University and Global Leaders Fellow Blavatnik School of Government Oxford University where her research centers around corporate, energy and environmental law issues.

Professional Career

Professionally, she teaches courses in environmental, trade and company law as well as international climate change and energy resources. Her research explores the intersection between corporate energy law, environmental law and climate justice issues.

She advises the government of The Bahamas at United Nations climate change negotiations and serves on its Compliance Committee (Facilitative Branch). In addition, she serves on its Expert Peer Review Group for Race to Zero campaign.

Benjamin currently teaches international climate change, environmental justice, and energy resources law at Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland Oregon. In the past she has served as Killam Postdoctoral Fellow at Schulich School of Law as well as visiting professor at Penn State University where she taught business associations and energy law.

Danielle is currently the director of Verde PDX and co-chairs the Climate Accountability working group within the Climate Social Science Network, serving on its expert peer review panel for Race to Zero campaign of UN backed. Additionally, she has been quoted in Bloomberg Law and Financial Times publications and appeared as an expert guest host on Velshi on MSNBC.

Personal Life

Lisa is a very compassionate counselor. Sessions with her allow for personal development at your own pace and she prioritizes meeting you where you are while being direct and honest in her approach.

Sydney-based clinical Psychologist Sarah Wood utilises various research-backed techniques to promote psychological and emotional growth while eliminating those factors which hinder it. She works closely with medical practitioners and school counsellors to provide comprehensive support networks. She employs various forms of psychotherapy as part of this holistic support structure – utilising various proven approaches such as working alongside medical practitioners or school counsellors and using these to work on psychological growth alongside those aspects which impede it.
