Early Life and Education
Lucas Flood Insurance Agency was founded by a former captive agent. They believe their clients deserve a superior experience when it comes to meeting their insurance needs; by opening their own agency they are now able to offer superior customer service as well as access to more products and carriers.
He began his career by packing books in a warehouse and marketing travel guides and dictionaries before becoming an agent. Today he represents an impressive roster of historians, classicists, Arabists, scientists, suspense writers and suspense novels from around the world.
He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the George Lucas Educational Foundation, an independent, tax-exempt organization dedicated to realizing his vision of technology-enriched education. Additionally, he serves as trustee at University of Chicago Laboratory Schools as well as being one of its founding board members for Gordon Parks Arts Hall at this institution – named in honor of one of their famed photographers.

Achievement and Honors
Lucas graduated with honors from Morehouse College with both a bachelor’s in teaching and master’s in history degrees, an executive MBA from Stetson University and a doctorate in education from Fordham University. Additionally, he holds leadership roles within several acclaimed organizations like Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Prince Hall Free Masonry and 100 Black Men as a member.
Co-founded with Coppola, American Zoetrope was intended to offer filmmakers a freer environment away from Hollywood studio control. For his efforts he won various awards such as Academy’s Irving G. Thalberg Award.
He serves as Group Creative Director at The Community NY and works on culture-shaping brands that span national and global platforms – with clients such as PlayStation, Samsung and Marvel among his clientele.
Flexibility has been key to the company’s success and allowed it to go from being a small family firm specializing in cycle accessories in the mid 19th century to one involved with components, automotive and aerospace from their infancy.
Lucas entered USC’s film department in 1967, sharing a dorm room with future director John Milius, where they produced Electronic Labyrinth THX 1138 4EB which won first prize at the National Student Film Festival. Later he participated in an internship program at Warner Bros with Francis Ford Coppola working on Finian’s Rainbow film project.
He is an active member of several clubs, such as the Republican Business and Professional Women’s Club of Queens, National Council of Negro Women, Merrick Community Center, Urban League, Lighthouse as a social service agency as well as being a generous philanthropist donating his services and donations to various charitable causes.
Lucas has proven his worth since being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Lions in 2014. Additionally, he’s served as an effective replacement for Corey Robinson this season and the team has considered offering him a short-term extension below tender value contract extension.
He has executed over one trade worth over $50,019. Additionally, he purchases approximately one unit of the company’s stock every 50 days on average.
