Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital Trustee Says Goodbye to Lucas Heckers

Heckers is an expert in schizophrenia spectrum disorders and leads a multi-disciplinary specialty clinic for psychotic patients at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital. Additionally, he serves on numerous editorial boards.

On Friday, Hecker’s girlfriend Christi Rowan was sued by a bankruptcy trustee on allegations of fraud and falsified tax and loan documents to conceal assets from court.

Early Life and Education

Hecker is an avid reader and writer, having published several books and academic journal articles such as “Developmental and Psychopathological Perspectives on the Relationship Between Schizophrenia Risk Genes and Facial Processing”, as well as “Medical Temporal Lobe Activity during Passive Viewing of Emotional and Neutral Faces In Patients With Schizophrenia.”

Hecker also gives back to the community through his work with local schools and volunteers, including volunteering with Reading Partners as a reading specialist. He believes in education’s power to enable students to realize their full potential, thus contributing to building a better society.

Hecker has always shown an avid desire for learning, serving on the Advisory Council for Marion Military Institute from 1978 – 1984 and as President of Greater Washington Area Citadel Club Alumni Association between 1980-1982.

Professional Career

Hecker is a proud member of various professional associations and serves on the editorial board for multiple journals. Additionally, he sits on the Scientific Council of Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (formerly NARSAD).

Academically, his focus has been schizophrenia spectrum disorders and bipolar disorder. At Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital he treats patients and directs a special clinic for those living with psychotic disorders.

Hecker was responding to public commentary at Loveland City Council meeting and responded as follows: This issue affects every state in our nation and will impose an undue burden upon law enforcement agencies.” To date, Hecker has not responded to requests for further explanation or clarification.

Achievement and Honors

Zenger described Heckers as an exceptional leader and role model during her remarks, noting her plans for setting up a table with paper flowers and string for students to write messages of support that she will then deliver to Heckers’ family.

Boy Scout Troop 466 of North Bend recently honored Sean Hecker, Eric Lynne, and Gregory Malcolm for achieving the highest rank possible: Eagle. Only about 2 percent of scouts achieve this status, which requires earning 21 merit badges before age 18 as well as performing a service project to benefit either their community or church.

Gary Darling nominated Hecker for this honor. According to Darling, Hecker has always been willing to serve on boards and committees within the community in order to improve it; Hecker also served on both the county Community Corrections board and Mental Health Substance Abuse Partnership boards.

Personal Life

Trustee’s are always searching for sources that may lead to uncovering assets hidden by debtors. Hecker’s trustee reported being informed about a number of schemes Hecker used to conceal his assets – placing personal boats and trailers under company names; making payments on a car given to Rowan; giving her $80,000; hiding jewelry and furs among them.

Lucas is best-known for producing Madonna’s self-titled debut album; however, he also produced records by Weather Girls and Norman Connors. From 1972-1976 he played guitar in Miles Davis’ electric band alongside musicians such as Raymond Calhoun, Rowland Smith and bassist Paul Chambers – as well as founding Quantum Sound studio in New Jersey in 1986.
