Lucas McKay is an American Film Director best known for his films and TV shows. Additionally, he is known for coaching sports teams.

He served as Brownell’s student assistant while at UNCW and later assisted Harrells Christian Academy before coming to Wright State in 2007. Additionally, he has managed and overseen many regional and national camps and tournaments as an administrator and manager.

Early Life and Education

McKay spent his early years living on his parents’ farm in Sunny Ville, Jamaica and being educated by his brother Uriah Theophilus McKay (an educator), a school teacher who encouraged him to read English literature and poetry as well as works by European philosophers like Arthur Schopenhauer – known for being pessimists.

At 17, he left Sunny Ville to become an apprentice woodworker in Brown’s Town and Kingston; but, soon after arriving there, after experiencing rampant racism there, he soon returned home and wrote his first published poem entitled “If We Must Die.” This experience inspired his first poem ever published:

Professional Career

McKay has led various programs, such as Portland State and Colorado State. Most recently he served as the head coach of New Mexico Wildcats where he led them to a third place finish during his only season as head coach.

Mr. Johnson also served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Liberty. While working with the Flames, he helped Janae Jefferson earn All-Central Region status from the National Federation of College Athletic Association.

Penn State throws program has made significant strides under his leadership. Michael Shuey earned second-place at USATF Championships for javelin throw and David Lucas finished as runner-up in weight throw competitions; additionally, they competed at NCAA Indoor Championships under him.

Achievement and Honors

Lucas McKay has received many honors and accolades for his films. Colt 13 earned nomination for a Platinum Remi Award at 2016 WorldFest Houston International Film Festival; additional nominations and wins at numerous other festivals have also been achieved by Lucas.

He was part of a team that won 45 ACC regular season games over the past two seasons – third most ever at school history! Additionally, he served as video coordinator for four years.

He works closely with coaches and student-athletes on skill development, scouting, defensive alertness and recruiting materials preparation. In addition, he manages all practice, game and opponent video through coding and statistical analysis and has also helped prepare the program for visits from potential recruits.

Personal Life

Katherine Lucas McKay conducts research that provides evidence-based strategies to ensure everyone in the United States enjoys financial security and ample opportunity for pursuing their goals and dreams. Currently she serves as Associate Director of Aspen Institute’s Financial Security Program.

After graduating from UNCW in 2006, McKay served as an assistant coach at Harrell’s Christian Academy for one season before joining Brownell and Donlon at Wright State. Here he oversaw day-to-day operations of the basketball office as well as team managers, recruit mailings, scouting operations and scouting duties.

Joanne Lucas was born in Trevorton, Pennsylvania and survived by her husband Bob; daughters Kris Langer of Mechanicsburg and Betsy Lanouette of Lewes Delaware; her brother Jim Lucas (Pam) of Graham North Carolina as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Unfortunately she passed away July 3, 2022 at Polaris Hospice Milford Delaware.
