Jack Bonneau – A Machinists Jack

Machinist’s Jacks are straightforward tools made up of an operating lever and screw. By turning this screw, it lifts off its base to support loads.

This jack is constructed using a 40 mm diameter EN1A cylinder that was cut to create the knurled part shown in the header photo.

Early Life and Education

Jack Holder of Sun Lakes joined the Navy at age 18 as a machinist, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II and vividly remembers witnessing Pearl Harbor being bombed on December 7, 1941 like it happened right in front of him.

He earned two A and B grades in the machining certificate program at USU Eastern and regularly went above and beyond to ensure his success. He credits this experience with turning around his life after spending time in jail as well as experiencing work-related injury in a coal mine.

Jack Koeller brings over 30 years of experience to his adult education precision machining classroom, imparting skills required by today’s manufacturing sector.

Professional Career

Jack was an unswerving champion for workers everywhere and always found ways to support those on the edge. Never once giving up or giving in, Jack left behind an indefatigable legacy of strength, courage, and determination for all workers everywhere.

He enjoyed engaging in numerous projects and hobbies in his free time, particularly working on aircraft. Additionally, he would proudly show off his 1963 Studebaker Avanti at many local car shows.

Jack was an active member of Sebeka United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities such as greeter, usher and kitchen help. Additionally, he belonged to Elks Lodge and Sons of AMVETS; for entertainment he often watched episodes of Gunsmoke. Finally, Jack was known for being an extraordinary Christian man who deeply revered Jesus Christ while spreading His Gospel throughout Sebeka and winning souls for him.
