A Look at John Michael Montgomery
Despite being a superstar, the super star of the Montgomery family is his youngest member, a son named Walker Carl. He also plays the viola for his father’s band, Montgomery Gentry, and is an active member of the Kentucky Bluegrass Hall of Fame. He was also the recipient of the award for most outstanding musician of the year at the 2012 Kentucky State Fair.
Although not much is known about his early years, it is assumed that he grew up in Danville, Kentucky and moved to Newton, Iowa and Lexington, Kentucky before settling down in the bluegrass state. His music career began in the ’90s when he started performing with his brother Eddie. After releasing his debut single, “Crazy Horse,” John Michael Montgomery went on to become a recognizable solo artist. He has more than 30 singles on Billboard’s country charts. Among his many hits, “Mountain of My Heart” is arguably the most popular song of his career.
In the last few years, the Montgomery family has made it big on the road. They have toured with country stars like Brooks and Dunn, and will be hitting the road with Brothers Osborne as soon as September. In the past few months, John has had a rough patch, but he has managed to keep the good times rolling. His newest single “Break Up” has reached number one on the country charts, and is on its way to breaking the all time record for longest charted radio song. The singer has also been endorsed by UMG Nashville. His most recent tour will take him across the country, and he is scheduled to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in April.
There are many more exciting things going on in the Montgomery family’s life, but the most exciting has to be the recent marriage of the aforementioned Hoot and his lady love Macy. They married on May 7 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and it appears the love is mutual. They have traded wedding bands, as evidenced by the pictures and videos they have posted on social media. Those wishing to attend the nuptials can contact the groom’s mother for more information. The Montgomerys are currently in the midst of touring their most recent album, “Holding Out,” and will be back in North Carolina for a few weeks before returning to the studio.
Although the name of the game is still in doubt, the Montgomerys have a long and successful road ahead of them. In the meantime, the best bet is to enjoy the aforementioned albums while the dude is out of town.
