New York Rangers Winter Classic Jersey
New York Rangers Winter Classic Jersey
The New York Rangers have announced their new jersey for the 2018 Winter Classic. It’s a homage to the old heritage jersey, but with a new look and feel. Instead of displaying the words “New York” across the chest, the new jersey features the traditional RANGERS word mark. The design also features stripes on the sleeves and waist, just as the original Rangers jerseys did.
The Rangers hosted the Buffalo Sabres for the 11th annual Winter Classic. In a game that ended in overtime, the Rangers won 3-2. They led 2-0 after the first period, but struggled to score goals early on. However, Sam Reinhart scored a power play goal in the second period and Rasmus Ristolainen tied the game 27 seconds into the third.
The team’s Reverse Retro jersey was based on the 1966 prototype worn by the team’s ownership. In addition to the original gold color scheme, it also features light blue from the Winter Classic jerseys. This makes it the most meta Reverse Retro jersey in the collection. It features the team’s logo on the shoulders and has shoulder pads, which is another homage to the iconic sweater.
