Noah Goodwin
Noah Goodwin is an inspired young golfer from Corinth, Texas with an indomitable spirit. A Golfweek-ranked player and recently finished second at the 2016 U.S. Junior Amateur.
He won the 2017 AJGA Rolex Player of the Year title and represented Team USA at both Junior Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup tournaments. Additionally, he will attend SMU to complete his college golf studies.
Early Life and Education
Medieval Christianity often interpreted Noah’s three sons, Shem, Japheth and Ham, as founding figures of Europe (Shem), Asia (Japheth), and Africa (Ham). This interpretation provided religious justification for racism and slavery.
Noah and Cole share the dream of becoming professional bass fishers on Alabama Bass Trail tournament events, having fished tournament events for two years and earning $27,000 so far in winnings.
Goodwin previously competed at the junior PGA level. Recently, however, he signed a letter of intent to join SMU’s men’s golf team under coach Jason Enloe and plans to work on improving his game this winter in hopes of making it to this year’s Masters Tournament.
Professional Career
Goodwin never gave up his dream to become a professional golfer despite having been diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency, and has accomplished remarkable things thanks to his dedication. These include back-to-back AJGA Rolex Junior Player of the Year awards as well as finishing second at U.S. Junior Amateur Championship 2017. Moving forward, Goodwin plans on attending SMU for his collegiate golf.
He opened with three birdies to take an early four-shot lead before holding off Hailee Cooper of Montgomery, Texas, on the back nine. He made birdie on 16 and nearly had an eagle opportunity on 18, only to miss a 15-foot putt and miss his chance for glory.
As a high school athlete, he vaulted an incredible 2.03 meters (6 ft 7+3/4 in). Additionally, he holds the sixth-highest jump ever recorded by an American boy and competes on the Alabama Bass Trail with his younger brother Cole.
Achievement and Honors
Noah Goodwin was an impressive junior golfer. In 2016, the Laurel Springs School student did not finish outside of the top 5 at any event he participated in; including making match play in the U.S. Junior Amateur. However, Goodwin fell to Min Woo Lee by two and one.
Goodwin won the Rolex AJGA Player of the Year award that same year and became one of only three players ever to capture a U.S. Junior Amateur title just one year after losing in its finals. Additionally, Goodwin led United States team to victory at Junior Presidents Cup tournament and will attend SMU.
Goodwin earned 2021 PING First-Team All-America honors alongside fellow Mustang Bryson DeChambeau. Goodwin completed his high school coursework a semester early to begin college early, playing alongside SMU varsity players during recruiting visits.
Personal Life
Noah Goodwin is an outstandingly grounded young person. Even while receiving high levels of praise, he maintains an admirable level of maturity and perspective regarding life as an elite athlete. Golf serves as one component of his life while at the same time it remains one of many long-term goals he wants to reach in life; Goodwin takes an independent view regarding its place within it – while still remaining constrained within its overall scope.
Cameron McCormick holds him in high esteem, and they have become close. He is a superb listener who appreciates all of the opportunities that have come his way due to his talent and perseverance. Additionally, he’s an outstanding teammate and always willing to help out his teammates or younger members on his squad.
Net Worth
Goodwin keeps his personal life under tight wraps and there is little information regarding his family or personal relationships available to the public. He is known for being an exceptional escapologist who has performed stunts for various television shows and movies; one such stunt on Britain Got Talent involved lying down on a nail while holding onto a breeze block on his bare chest before being hit with a sledge hammer!
He managed to escape his predicament and reach the finals of the show.
Goodwin has become an invaluable member of the Cowboys special teams and his return will certainly bolster their defense. While they may have lost Luke Gifford and Noah Brown to free agency, keeping Goodwin is an asset to any team.
