Steve Brumer – IoT Practice Lead Partner at 151 Advisors
With over 30 years of wireless/mobile and M2M experience, Brumer leads the IoT practice at 151 Advisors. He is known for developing real-world executable plans to drive growth in new or existing markets and help companies realize their full commercial potential.
He has an avid interest in machine-to-machine (M2M) services that help businesses increase efficiencies, decrease costs, and make sound business sense.
Early Life and Education
Bruner published his book Process of Education in 1961 to address ways education could be improved. Bruner believed that education should go beyond memorizing facts to understanding how things come together.
He enjoys finding new perspectives and is sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. His joy of life, enthusiasm for people, and sense of presence of Christ are contagious.
He and his wife enjoy spending time with family, flipping houses and coaching high school volleyball. Additionally, they love the Lord, music, all things Kansas – especially Chiefs and Royals baseball games and Skyline Chili! Steve works at 151 Advisors as the Director of IoT Practice; an expert at devising real-world plans that drive revenue growth within both new and established markets.
Professional Career
Brumer currently serves as IoT Practice Lead Partner at 151 Advisors, a consultancy firm that assists technology, mobile, and wireless companies with their go-to-market strategies and execution. With 30+ years of M2M/IoT/mobile experience – including co-founding Wireless Rain as CEO to assist wireless carriers, manufacturers, solution providers with channel programs for B2B products such as machine-to-machine products as well as professional services – his expertise extends across several vertical markets.
In her senior year, she made history by becoming the first student from southern California ever to win state-level Journalist of the Year (JOY) from Journalism Education Association (JEA). She won 49 local, regional, and national journalism awards over time; additionally working freelance as both journalist and photographer for publications like Pearl Post and JEA High School Insider.
Achievement and Honors
Steve was extremely active with ZBT while at DU. He handled every aspect of chapter management from recruitment, food service, maintenance, remodeling, fundraising and event planning to fundraising and event planning. Under his guidance and leadership Iota saw great success, winning its inaugural Brummer Cup award as a result. Fraternity runs deep in his blood; always finding time for brotherhood and family.
Steve Brumer has been an engaging speaker at various events. Most recently, he co-hosted the Industry Insights IoT Solutions Awards along with Tiffani Neilson from IoT Marketing LLC on December 10, 2020 – honoring technology ecosystem professionals and connected solution providers from various ecosystems and tackling connected solution providers; discussing its current state as well as what the future may hold.
Personal Life
Steven Brumer lives in Los Angeles with his wife and one child, practicing law with Cage & Miles law firm as well as being an active philanthropist by making donations to numerous charitable causes.
He currently serves as Regional Director for Care Clinical, an elderly care services company established in 2013 that employs over 1,192 people. Additionally, he sits on the boards of Maverick Wireless, Georgia Technology Council, Mobile Enterprise Magazine and CTIA’s Wireless Internet Caucus.
At home, he enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as making music – playing bass guitar with Flying Lotus, Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald among other artists. Additionally, he has participated in many public and private events including iHeartRadio’s release party for Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 2016 album Go Robot.
