Early Life and Education
Steve Troy was raised in Lebanon, Indiana and graduated from Western Boone Junior Senior High School in 1991. Following graduation he enlisted with the United States Air Force where he served as a medic from 1971-1975.
After returning, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he graduated with full academic scholarship and Dean’s List membership. Additionally, he participated in track and field and cross country racing at his college; winning multiple conference and regional championships along the way.
Later he retired as a physical education teacher with Troy City Schools and went on to coach softball and cross country at Charles Henderson High School – still holding various school records decades after his last meet at college.
Professional Career
Troy is an award-winning studio designer and audio engineer who has provided services for Red Bull North America, Abbey Road Studios London, Capitol Studios Hollywood as well as teaching computer science classes at Troy. Additionally he serves on College Board’s AP Computer Science Exam Development Committee Committees where he serves as Reader/Question Leader/Development Committee Member for these exams.
After years of success in corporate America, Steve Troy began searching for something different: an opportunity to be his own boss. Leveraging his executive management expertise and years of consulting, financial services, consumer sales and technology businesses to launch and transform them successfully; eventually becoming his own boss himself and operating both eCommerce and consulting businesses as well as teaching business classes at Troy University in California.
Achievement and Honors
Troy wrote nine books, such as Age of Clinton: America in the 1990s and eight other works about American presidents. One leading historian called Troy “one of the finest historians on presidential history.”
Christopher T. Warden Scholarships are presented annually to Pre-Law program students enrolled at Troy University campus in Troy, Alabama with a GPA of 3.0 or above and from rural areas. A committee appointed by the donor selects recipients according to both representatives from each party involved: recipient as well as university.
Lester Nichols Endowed Scholarship is awarded to students from Dale County, Alabama. Applicants must graduate high school within the Wiregrass area with at least 2.5 GPA while also showing financial need.
Personal Life
He was an engaged member of his community and generous supporter of numerous charitable causes, including Jaycees, San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo, Texas Leaders Round Table (an honors association for insurance & financial services professionals) and more.
He is an attentive father and husband to two daughters. His hobbies include fishing, bow hunting and riding his motorcycle. Furthermore, he’s a skilled artist who likes drawing hot rods and comical characters for fun.
