Early Life and Education

Ken Trussell was born December 7, 1952 in Edgewood, Texas to Willard Edgar and Virginia Louise Trussell. After attending high school in Garland and marrying Sharon Ray as his bride-to-be in 1974, they started their landscape and irrigation business together. Ken and his wife eventually relocated to Canton and established “Continuing Education for Licensing Inc.” While in Canton, Ken was actively involved with his children’s activities. Additionally, he enjoyed building hotrods and attending car shows. Later in life, he relished spending time with his grandchildren. He loved cooking new recipes for family gatherings. Unfortunately, he passed away on March 26, 2022 in Tyler and services are set for April 2 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with pallbearers including Preston Thomas, Glen Hibbard, Calvin Morris and Chris Howell serving as pallbearers.

Professional Career

Duncan Trussell is a comedian, actor, and podcaster who began his career at Los Angeles’s Comedy Store. There he created an irreverent stand up act that featured a Satanic puppet bit that caught Joe Rogan’s eye, prompting him to invite Duncan as his co-host on JOE ROGAN QUESTIONS EVERYTHING on Sci-fy Network.

At Discover Financial Services, he held various finance and corporate risk management roles including leading divisional CFO, corporate FP&A and enterprise/operational risk teams. Additionally, he is one of the founders of Spectrum Group Management LLC, a strategic alternative investment firm focused on distressed debt markets such as special situations or asset backed credit securities.

At Arizona Rock Products Association, he represents mining interests in community relations, government affairs and regulatory processes. Additionally, he belongs to Emporia Kansas Leadership Academy’s Machine Technology Track and serves on Flint Hills Technical College’s Advisory Board in this discipline.

Achievement and Honors

Trussell’s research has advanced our understanding of how diversity among ion channels and neurotransmitters is orchestrated to achieve sensory richness, with 21 publications including Neuron and Nature Neuroscience journals.

He is actively engaged with numerous charitable organizations and charities, serving on the boards of Mind and Citizens Advice as well as regional chair of Samaritans. Furthermore, he sits on Holley Performance Products’ board.

Trussell has received many honors and recognitions throughout his career for his contributions and dedication to the community, such as being nominated twice for National Instructor of the Year and winning various teaching and research accolades – most recently receiving 2021 OHSU Medical Research Foundation Mentor Award. Furthermore, as Executive Director of Arizona Mining Association where he excels at mining advocacy, government relations, legislation & regulation processes both nationally and locally.

Personal Life

Trussell spent his free time enjoying family time and attending their sporting events, working on hotrod cars, traveling and being an avid supporter of Arizona Cardinals football team.

As well as his podcast, he has written for MADtv and Curb Your Enthusiasm as well as hosting Thunderbrain on Comedy Central as a comedy science pilot.

Trussell serves on the boards of Elevate Credit, Inc. and Discover Financial Services as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As a certified public accountant with more than 25 years of experience in risk management, finance, accounting and investment banking; Steven is married with three children living nearby as well as two grandchildren living in Bowling Green Kentucky.
