Early Life and Education
Steven Ybarra has become one of the premier musicians from San Diego’s vibrant singer-songwriter scene in recent years. His unique guitar playing and captivating vocal performances have thrilled audiences all across North America, earning four San Diego Music Awards as well as garnering him a loyal following that includes Gavin DeGraw, Switchfoot and Jason Mraz among many others.
Ybarra’s upbringing was deeply rooted in religion and family values, which can be heard in his songs. He credits Catholic school education with helping to nurture a profound sense of self and confidence in his talent.
Steve and Hilary Ybarra’s goal is to create a more walkable Houston neighborhood. Already they’ve purchased other lots in the area, including one at 3501 Harrisburg Boulevard near a light rail stop where they plan to implement small mixed-use developments.
As an attorney, Ybarra specializes in class action litigation, intellectual property disputes and legal malpractice lawsuits. She has achieved outstanding successes both state and federal courts; among these victories are challenging California Proposition 8 and representing death row inmates.
She specializes in complex litigation – specifically high-stakes technology and privacy cases involving technology, the public health sector and hospitals. She has successfully represented both individuals as well as major corporations.

Steven Ybarra has become a national recording artist known for his unique country pop sound, captivating audiences with his captivating country pop performance and captivating fans with his captivating country pop sound. Combining modern pop elements with traditional country influences for a refreshing approach to country music genre.
He has shared the stage with legendary acts such as Vertical Horizon, Hootie & the Blowfish, Five for Fighting, Jeremy Camp, and Switchfoot while performing at venues ranging from coffee shops to amphitheaters nationwide. Additionally, he served as worship arts director at San Diego’s Grace Point Church.
In 2007 he released his first full-length solo album, Love Love Love, followed by Best Days two years later. Since then he has appeared on various radio and TV programs, such as Bob Dylan Radio Program; additionally he worked as an infectious disease medical specialist writing papers that revised national guidelines for screening Hepatitis B in pregnancy.
As worship arts leader at Grace Point Church, Ybarra uses music as just another means of expressing himself creatively. He utilizes his talent to combine not only music with theater performances, photography shoots, video production and dance dance into an uplifting experience for attendees.
Ybarra has used his musical talents to support numerous charitable causes, such as three Surfrider Foundation benefit shows and events, March of Dimes, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as well as commercial spots, movies and television.
Universal Music Group/INgrooves licensed Ybarra’s song, “Love Love Love,” from his 2008 album with the same name to be used in an international marketing campaign by Jones and Sons Jewelry Promotion for Valentine’s Day 2012. Gavin DeGraw, Switchfoot, Hootie & the Blowfish and Sugar Ray have shared the stage with him over his career.
Jbara has made nearly 200 appearances on the CBS series Blue Bloods as New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan – as both head of both force and Reagan family – as well as guesting appearances in American Dad, Monk and Nurse Jackie.
He’s been eating vegetables and sipping green juice almost daily for more than a year, which has enabled him to shed over 80 pounds!
