Steven experienced what is commonly referred to as a midlife crisis during the mid 1990s. Instead of engaging in drugs or alcohol-induced behaviour, his crisis involved realizing he wasn’t living the life he desired for himself.
He switched his career path from public relations to psychotherapy and now operates two psychotherapy practices in Walnut Creek and Berkeley where he treats individuals, couples and families; facilitates groups for men and teen boys; is an adjunct faculty at John F. Kennedy University training therapists how to work with teenage boys and men; is a trainer at John F. Kennedy University teaching them how to work with these groups of clients; serves as trainer/mentor at other institutions training therapists how to work with teen boys/men issues etc.
Steven Freemire is a licensed psychotherapist, personal coach and organizational consultant and trainer specializing in counseling individuals, couples and families with an emphasis on counseling teen boys and men. Bill was preceded in death by both of his parents and his wife of Okemos, Jo E. Freemire. Survivors include sons Bill and Steven Freemire as well as Diana Jo and Joanna Freemire as daughter-in-laws; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and Arone Huisgen from Florida. Funeral services will take place Thursday at Gorsline Runciman East Chapel in Lansing before burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in East Lansing.
