Dr. Steven Kurtzman is an accomplished radiation oncology specialist with over three decades of experience. A graduate from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Dr. Kurtzman currently provides his services at Mills-peninsula Medical Center and Eden Medical Center.
Since 2000, he has performed over 5000 prostate brachytherapy procedures and believes strongly in providing patients with all available treatment options so that they may make informed decisions regarding their prostate cancer care.
Early Life and Education
Steven Kurtzman received an associate degree in business from Pima Community College before continuing on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in finance at the University of Arizona and eventually his doctorate from Washington University in St Louis.
Kurtzman has long been an ardent supporter of children suffering from selective mutism (SM). As a Board Certified Clinical Child Psychologist and one of only 21 Certified Master Trainers for Parent-Child Interaction Therapy – PCIT, one of the world’s most evidenced treatments for SM, he stands as a tireless advocate.
He also helped establish the Selective Mutism Association (SMA), a non-profit organization. SMA offers research, education and training services for families dealing with selective mutism (SM). Members are highly active in their field as they take part in professional conferences; some even made headlines like NBC News or in The New York Times for their efforts.

He is one of the most prolific producers in sci-fi television production, producing five “Star Trek” series currently under production and two Paramount+ projects in development. Additionally, he co-founded the Harvey Awards – honoring books and creators in sequential art – in memory of comics pioneer Harvey Kurtzman who famously created MAD.
Dr. Kurtzman has performed over 5,000 prostate cancer patients with Brachytherapy and regularly shares this expertise with other physicians nationally and internationally. Additionally, he is widely respected as a pioneer of Cesium-131 technology; and was featured presenter at ASTRO’s 2016 annual meeting as an expert presenter on this subject matter.
