Early Life and Education

Shelly Ryan Johnson, daughter of Deborah Templeton Johnson and Robert W. Johnson from Chesapeake, Virginia and Steven Armstrong Soutendijk of Sagaponack, New York were united in marriage at their parents’ home Saturday under Bruce M. Kaplan’s officiantship.

Professional Career

Steven Soutendijk joined Cushman & Wakefield Retail Services in 2004 and has played an instrumental role in brokering transactions involving some of New York City’s most recognizable retailers. Representing several prominent Manhattan property owners, two transactions that involved him have been nominated for Real Estate Board of New York’s annual “Retail Deal of the Year.” Soutendijk not only represents landlords, but he is active tenant representation. Among his tenants have been Charles Schwab, China Grill Management, Ecko, Garrett Popcorn Shops and Fireman Hospitality Group among many others.

Soutendijk places his faith in the sector on two factors. First is New York’s robust tourism business, which brings visitors into retail destinations. Second is food stores’ success as an “anti-recessionary” industry which will remain attractive even as consumers search out alternative, more convenient or cost-cutting solutions.

Personal Life

Steven Soutendijk was a senior director at Cushman & Wakefield Retail Services and specialized in landlord representation and tenant representation for various owners, such as American Eagle, Charles Schwab, China Grill Management, Ecko, Garrett Popcorn Shops, Fireman Hospitality Group and JP Morgan Chase. Steven enjoys golfing and attending concerts when not working; in his free time he collects vintage automobiles. Married to Shelly Ryan Johnson (both residents of Midtown Manhattan, New York City); they share two children: son and daughter ; He is a member of both American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY).
