He has won numerous awards, such as the Gospel Stellar Award for Best Instrumental Album with Mercy, Mercy, Mercy in 2010. Additionally, he has received multiple Grammy nominations.

He is a private pilot and often flies his fleet of airplanes to his concerts. Additionally, he serves as a motivational speaker and has collaborated with the NBA as part of their office division of player development as an office musician.
He and Jewel can be seen on Bravo’s reality series Thicker Than Water, which explores both their personal lives and music careers. Along with music, he serves as pastor at The Destiny Center church in Murfreesboro; additionally he wrote the self-help book Full Tank Life: Fuel Your Dreams Ignite Your Destiny.
