Early Life and Education
Thomas was raised in Portland and attended Deering High School before enrolling at Maine Maritime Academy for sailing deck cadet training on Liberty ships and Victory ships before graduating as a deck cadet on each. Following graduation, Thomas worked for Senator John C. Danforth as his legislative assistant.
Thomas is an outspokenly conservative jurist known for his originalism – an approach to law which adheres to close readings of the Constitution – as an approach to law. Sometimes his views on certain issues have caused controversy; for instance in Good News Club v Milford Central School case he wrote dissent which overturned decades of precedent while co-writing majority decision that overturned federal statute restricting certain words use. Thomas currently earns over $250,000 annually as his salary.
He has an extraordinary record of service to Maine and the United States, working as a prosecutor, district attorney and U.S. attorney before joining WCBB-TV’s Board of Trustees as well as Liberty Mutual’s.
He specializes in banking and commercial transactions, real estate law, title insurance defense and related areas of practice for banks, private corporations and financial institutions.
He works at a large firm as an associate practicing taxation and real estate, teaching at the University of Maine as an adjunct faculty member, licensed realtor with extensive real estate law knowledge, involved in major real estate projects as well as representing clients on complex business issues.

Since starting her studies at UMaine, she has been involved with Honors College activities like research learning experiences and internships. Additionally, she volunteered at three non-profits nearby.
She is a member of the Society for Advancement of Management and competes annually in the international Student Business Challenge competition, featuring written case study work, extemporaneous speech delivery and knowledge bowl.

He represents individuals and businesses alike in these fields – such as publicly traded corporations, private equity funds and real estate developers among his clientele. Furthermore, he holds memberships with both Massachusetts Bar Association and Maine Bar Association.
Though he remains fairly private about his private life, former This Old House host Jonathan Landers is estimated to be worth well over one million. Landers has invested much time and effort into local community service – serving on various committees and boards including 10 years on the Southern Maine Postal Customer Council.
