Thomas McCloskey has long resided on Long Island’s pastoral North Fork, and brings with him to real estate practice all the negotiating expertise and market analysis that have brought him success in other endeavors such as finance.

He established the McCloskey Business Plan Competition at Notre Dame, is on the board of Thacher School in Ojai California, and co-founded Central American Leadership Initiative.

Early Life and Education

Thomas McCloskey was born and raised in Hamilton, Ohio – much like the town depicted in his books. His favorite hobbies included drawing, playing harmonica and oboe, as well as inventing gadgets. After World War II he served honorably in the US Army before going into construction management postwar.

Dr. Lee earned his Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Maryland with an emphasis on Rhetoric and Political Culture, coaching a nationally competitive speech and debate team and serving as Peace Corps Volunteer English Teacher in Ukraine.

He leaves behind his wife Janina; children Christina, Christian and Adam McCloskey as well as grandchildren Sarah Madison-McCloskey and Alexander Madison-McCloskey from his own children Christina Christian McCloskey (now deceased) as well as Cole Mandeville of Fall River; as well as sister Margo Waddicor from Fall River.

Professional Career

Thomas McCloskey brings over 25 years of marketing, public relations and communications experience. He was most recently Director of Media Relations for the University of Virginia Darden School of Business as well as being featured as an on-camera spokesperson on NBC News.

He has served as a reporter at both the Fall River Herald News and Providence Journal’s Fall River Bureau, and as an Aspen Institute Fellow is on their Board of Trustees in Ojai, California.

Current: He currently practices real estate brokerage and investing on Long Island’s rural North Fork, where his negotiating expertise and market insight make him an invaluable resource to clients looking to buy or sell properties. Over 50 partnerships he was general partner in have been founded due to his diverse business activities; over 20 of those partnerships still continue today.

Achievement and Honors

Tom’s business interests span multiple sectors, including real estate, technology and wireless communications markets. He founded Cornerstone Holdings and McCloskey & Company while also being involved in several private equity investments as a partner. Tom serves on numerous company boards of directors as well as lecturing frequently about entrepreneurial topics.

Outside his role at school, Mr. Boeckmann also actively participates in community outreach initiatives. He serves on both boards – Aspen Institute’s and University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business’s.

McCloskey has earned numerous accolades throughout his career at Mansfield University for his dedication and service. In 2003, ECAC-SIDA honored him with their Irving T. Marsh Award winner honor; later that same year he was recognized by Mansfield for 25 years of service to Mansfield.

Personal Life

Tom is an enthusiastic professor who provides excellent constructive reviews, grades quickly and grants extensions easily as long as students can show they put forth effort in doing their work. Furthermore, his sense of humor makes class material fun!

He was an active member of his local community, serving on numerous committees and boards – such as being one of the founders of Fall River Disability Commission – as well as volunteering for Peace Corps teaching English in Ukraine.

Tom brings extensive business experience, having held general partner roles in over fifty partnerships and holding high-level strategic development roles for technology companies and wireless communications markets over three decades. Currently he serves as Chairman & CEO for Cornerstone Holdings (Colorado) and McCloskey and Company, as well as being the largest shareholder for both MAGNA ENERGY and PEGASUS TOWER Corp.
