TJ Thomas
TJ Thomas
TJ Thomas began playing piano and singing in church choirs while still in his teens, later venturing out camping, cycling and fishing – three passions that would lead him into mortgage lending as an adult.
At the Heroes vs. Villains merge, he made a poor choice by handing over his immunity idol to Russell Hantz and thus allowed Parvati Shallow to use this strategy against him at their initial post-merge tribal council meeting.
Early Life and Education
Thomas earned his Bachelor of Arts from Aurora University while serving as men’s lacrosse player on its highly successful team. Additionally, Thomas played professional baseball in the minor leagues while simultaneously recording several music albums.
Thomas was victorious in both immunity challenges early on but quickly found himself vulnerable when his Nuku tribe became part of another one. At the next reward challenge Alicia Rivera won handily and almost won one million dollars! Thomas ultimately placed second behind her at this challenge.
At a post-merge tribal council, however, he betrayed his alliance and switched votes to help protect fellow Villains Diaz-Twine and Bradshaw – only for it backfire against him as he was eventually voted off in 16th place with an impressive score that placed him as highest scoring male contestant of this season.
Professional Career
Thomas currently serves as Director of the University of Georgia Alexander Campbell King Law Library and as an attorney specializing in governmental ethics law, with experience litigating state and federal cases throughout the United States.
Assigned to the Heroes tribe, Jalapao made side deals with Tom Westman and Colby Donaldson while remaining loyal to Cirie Fields, Amanda Kimmel, Candice Woodcock, James Clement, Cirie Fields’ daughter Amanda Kimmel’s husband Anthony Kimmel as allies; eventually using his physical prowess he won a reward challenge and helped Jalapao eliminate Sandy Burgin, Spencer Duhm, Sydney Wheeler in back-to-back Tribal Councils.
Thomas has established himself in the golf industry while also supporting community art projects locally. He resides with his college professor wife in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Achievement and Honors
Thomas has received several accolades for his work at Architexas. Specializing in historic preservation, Thomas has worked on projects such as renovating courthouses across Texas and renovating several buildings in Dallas’ Fair Park.
Thomas formed a solid alliance on the Heroes tribe, including Cirie Fields, Amanda Kimmel, and James Clement; however, his side deals with Tom Westman and Colby Donaldson ultimately resulted in him losing his place within this majority alliance.
At the first post-merge tribal council, Thomas attempted to protect Sierra Dawn Thomas by switching his vote, however her immunity idol was revealed as Tai Trang and ultimately, Villains voted Thomas off by an unanimous 5-0 vote.
Personal Life
Thomas is an avid reader and sports enthusiast. He enjoys traveling and spending time with Elle, his college professor partner. Thomas spends much of his free time writing; he specializes in patent counseling for biotech and pharmaceutical companies.
He began the season on Nuku and won two challenges before shifting tribes. Once on Heroes, he formed an unbreakable alliance with Malcolm Freberg and Aubry Bracco that eventually won him several additional challenges before the swap took effect.
But Thomas made one of the dumbest moves in Survivor history by giving away his hidden immunity idol to Russell Hantz before the merge, giving Hantz and Parvati Shallow all of the resources they needed to blindside Thomas in 16th place and blindside him himself; thus saving himself for longer by winning four more reward and immunity challenges during that season.
